Carmina Burana & Concierto de Aranjuez at FYCMA, Malaga

On Saturday, January 24 at 6pm, the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Malaga (FYCMA) will host an extraordinary concert that brings together two of the most iconic and beloved masterpieces in the classical repertoire: the luminous Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo and the explosive Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

Concierto de Aranjuez will transport audiences to the gardens of Palacio de Aranjuez with the solo guitar playing the main role. It will evoke all the joy, nostalgia and unmistakable Andalusian Spirit that has captured the hearts of people around the world. The celebrated guitarist Rolando Said will lead this performance. His sensitivity and virtuosity has moved over two million people around the world.

Evening of true Spanish classical music

The second half will immerse the audience in the exciting energy of Carmina Buana, Carl Orff’s celebrated cantata that was premiered 1937. This masterpiece, which is based on medieval poems, features powerful choral forces and orchestral instruments, as well as texts that celebrate love and hedonism. It also includes texts that satirize human nature and a text about the wheel of fortune.

The entire concert will be performed by the Gran Orquesta Sinfónica together with a formidable choir, filling the FYCMA auditorium with overwhelming emotion.

Carmina Burana and Concierto de Aranjuez will be a night to feel, to vibrate, and to remember for years to come — an evening where the delicate voice of the Spanish guitar enters into a powerful dialogue with the epic intensity of mediaeval choruses on the same stage.
