Carlos Alcaraz, from Spain, won his eighth title in the current season on Tuesday after defeating Taylor Fritz of America 6-4 6-4 at the ATP 500 Japan Open in Tokyo.
The Spaniard was pleased to have gotten revenge on Fritz for his surprise loss at the Laver Cup team tournament in San Francisco last month, which was the first time he had lost to him in four matches.
El Palmar in Murcia is the world’s number one tennis player. He has now won 7 of his 9 tournaments.

The 22 year old joined a select group of players including Roger Federer (as well as Rafa, Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray) plus his current rival Jannik Sinneer. They are the only men who have won eight titles in one season.
Alcaraz says it’s “always tough to play Taylor” after his injury scare last week during his first match at Tokyo.
“I am really grateful to my teammates. It’s the first time I have been to Tokyo. It feels like home.
The fans have been amazing. The fans were amazing.”

Since losing against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon in July, Alcaraz has won three successive titles – the Cincinnati Open, the US Open and now the Japan Open.
The Murcian has now won 67 games this season, closing in on Sinner’s record of 73 victories last year.
Alcaraz said, “It has been fantastic, without doubt my best season to date.”
