In Elche, a man who worked for a woman aged over 60 was arrested for removing money from her account.
The non-Spanish woman was duped while recovering from an operation in her home.
The 58-year old man – of an unspecified nationality – took care of her house and gardens.

Policia Nacional alleged that he had blatantly abused his trust by allowing him to use her card for essential purchases during her recuperation.
He made multiple withdrawals totalling €3,900 which left nothing in her account.
The thief took full advantage of the woman’s loneliness and the lack of family support in Spain.
Her daughter, who was living abroad, noticed that her account was empty.
After receiving the shocking news, she went to Elche Police Station to report her unauthorised withdrawals.
The bank records confirmed the incident and the caregiver was charged for fraud.
The Policia Nacional reached out to social services in order to ensure that the woman would be taken care of.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine if the man conned other people or if he defrauded his victim further.
