Car crashes into barbershop in Marbella – two hospitalised


Two people were seriously injured Friday afternoon when a large white Land Rover crashed into a barbershop on Avenida Miguel de Cervantes in the Nueva Andalucia district of Marbella, according to Emergencias 112 Andalucía.

A chair and towel rack were damaged. Both victims were described as being elderly and suffering from facial and foot injuries. were taken to Costa del Sol Hospital for treatment.

Despite the crash, witnesses reported that the barbershop was still operating inside despite it. They said the vehicle had not struck the shop’s front window. The car was seen in videos on social media, which attracted many people.

The accident is part of a larger pattern. Similar crashes in 2024 occurred at Malaga and Rincon de la Victoria, but with more serious outcomes. On August 14, a driver in Malaga’s Echevarria de El Palo neighbourhood lost control, striking a 75-year-old man on a bench and crashing into a shopfront on Calle Escultor Marín Higuero, resulting in a fatality. On August 1, a car ploughed into a café terrace in Torre de Benagalbon, Rincon de la Victoria, injuring four customers, two of whom were hospitalised with moderate to severe injuries.

Fuengirola also experienced similar incidents in the beginning of this year. Two people died in a terrible crash that occurred on the Fuengirola coast on April 18. On March 4, an elderly driver lost her control and crashed into a shop. This raised concerns about the safety of the roads in the area. Fuengirola has invested in improving safety since April’s tragedy. This includes speed bumps, cameras, and more thorough roadside checks of vehicles and drivers.

The Marbella incident was quickly responded to by local police and emergency services. Investigations are currently underway to determine what caused the accident.
