Campaign for cuddle cots

Campaign to promote cuddle cots

Words fail.
Hayley

Hayley Wilkins, her partner Warren, and their daughter Sienna Elizabeth Rose were confronted with the worst possible situation that any parent could face: Sienna Elizabeth Rose was stillborn at just 40 weeks and three days.

Hayley’s labour started with optimism but soon turned into dread. She was taken to the hospital in Estepona where she underwent a C-section. Hayley wasn’t conscious when the hospital staff took her baby away.

Afterwards, Hayley and Warren were faced with the hardest of realities: The hospital didn’t have a cuddle cot – a device that allows grieving families to spend a little more time with their deceased babies. Sienna had to be taken two hours from her birth home, just hours after she was born. Hayley had to be discharged from the hospital because of her condition. She held Sienna for just one hour – a moment she will cherish forever.

Hayley, who is a social media professional, wanted to ensure that other families didn’t suffer the same hardships as her family, so she launched and rallied supporters for the Sienna Elizabeth Rose Legacy Campaign.

She hopes to donate memory boxes and cuddle cots to hospitals, filled with items to help families create memories, like baby moulds and ink pads. It aims to raise funds for families to cover funeral costs, and offers free services including professional videography and photography to capture precious funeral moments. Volunteer professional photographers will be on hand to capture the first and final moments of the baby’s life. The campaign also collects wedding dresses donated to make sleeping gowns for babies. It hopes to establish a dedicated team of support that can offer families grief support, counselling and other services. In order to fund these plans, both the UK as well as Spain are organising fundraising events.

The campaign has been a huge success, attracting support from all over the world, including the US. Hayley hopes through these efforts to honor Sienna’s memory and make a meaningful difference for families grieving in Spain. Hayley and her team have raised enough to purchase cuddle beds for hospitals in Seville and Madrid as well as Hospiten, Estepona.

GoFundMe is the official page to find out more or support the campaign. Supporting families in Spain whose babies are born sleeping.

Angel Clothing will hold a fashion event on June 4th from 11am, with a two-course lunch and free cava from 2pm-4pm. This is to raise funds to help families in Spain who have babies born sleeping. The organizers request that attendees wear pink to show solidarity with families who have lost their children in this way.

Join them in La Sala for an emotional fundraiser luncheon to support Spanish families whose babies were stillborn. Your presence and your support can make an important difference.
