Cala de Mijas fair prepares for summer party

La Cala de Mijas is gearing up for its big summer fair, planned for July 22–27, featuring a varied programme for all ages. 

The festival will begin at 10:30 pm on Tuesday 22 July. Ana Mata, the mayor of Madrid, will light the fairgrounds in a ceremonial manner. Nacha Pop will perform live, there will be a tribute paid to Alejandro Sanz as well as competitions for children, the Day Fair and other activities. The programme was introduced by Paco Lozano after a local proclamation.

Opening day begins at 9pm, with a dinner to honor the elderly, which will include approximately 300 guests. The Grandfather and Grandmother for the Fair will then be selected. Manuel Orta is the first performer to get the evening going.

Children’s Day falls on the 22nd of July, and there are discounts available for attractions. For the sake of inclusivity, sound levels will be lowered daily from 7pm-9pm for those with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

On Wednesday, July 23, the Fair’s King and Queen will be elected, accompanied by live music from El Tren de los Sueños. On Thursday, July 24 there will be a tribute to Alejandro Sanz as well as a performance by Nacha pop.

The Day Fair begins on Friday, July 25, at 2pm in the Torreón area, followed by evening performances from María Ruiz and Javi Medina. Rasel’s La Loka On Tour will be performed by him on Saturday, July 26. On Sunday, July 27th, Paco Candela will perform at the fair.

Ana Mata, the mayor of La Cala de Mijas, explained that there is something for everyone at this year’s fair, young and old. She also expressed her gratitude to the municipal workers who worked so hard to deliver a diverse and engaging program.
