The Bulgarian League match between Arda Karadzhali vs Levski Sofia produced one of the most bizarre moments in football.
On Sunday, the game began with a minute’s silence in honor of Petko Ganchev, a former Arda footballer.

Minutes later, after the moment of tribute, it’s revealed that he actually is alive!
Arda Kardzhali, the Bulgarian club, sent an email at halftime to the TV broadcaster, clarifying the fact that Petko Gachev was not dead. The Bulgarian club apologized to his family, and wished them “many healthy years.”
The management of PFC Arda sincerely apologizes to Petko Ganchev’s family and friends after incorrect information was received about his death. The club issued a statement in which it said, “We wish Petko many years of good health and we hope to continue to celebrate Arda’s successes together.”
The match and the Standings
The match ended with a score of 1-1. Levski took the lead through Marin Plamenov Petkov (22′) goal, while Arda missed a chance to equalize after Yordanov (52′) failed to convert a penalty. Levski went down to ten men after El Jemili (71′) received a second yellow card, and Arda finally equalized thanks to Stanislav Ivanov (82′).
Levski is now in second place, 12 points behind Ludogorets, the leader of the Bulgarian League. The hosts are currently in fifth position, fighting for European qualification spots.
