Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United in the Europa League Final on Wednesday night, when they played in Bilbao.
Ruben Amorim’s side fell to a 1–0 defeat, courtesy of a first-half strike by Brennan Johnson. The Welsh forward scored 18th goal for the season after a low crossing deflected from Luke Shaw.
United’s season ended in a nightmare. This campaign, which has just one match left and is 16th in Premier League with only 39 points on the board, is one of United’s worst ever in recent history.
Ryanair asks: “How was it?”
Soon after full-time, Manchester United were mocked across social media for their ongoing implosion – and low-cost airline Ryanair wasted no time twisting the knife.
Before kick-off, United’s social media team posted photos of Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire arriving confidently at San Mamés, captioned boldly: “Here with one clear ambition.”
The pictures were then reposted by Ryanair with the caption “How’d It Go?” a few hours later. The post was quickly shared, and fans responded with “They won’t need an extra allowance for hand luggage” and “That’s as much fun as one your flights.”
“We’d offer a free flight… but we’re not going to”
Ryanair didn’t stop there. Ryanair mocked its fans again on Facebook.
We’d like support Manchester United supporters by giving away one return flight for free this summer. But we are not.”
United fans cling to hope for a dramatic summer resurgence. With embarrassment mounting and faith in leadership dwindling, the Red Devils must regroup — or risk repeating another historic collapse.
