Previously reported by the Olive Press Two people have already been arrested following the failed kidnapping at Callosa d’en Sarria, on March 5.
The two men are a British national aged 64, who had been married to the woman years before, and a Portuguese citizen, aged 56.
The woman appeared in front of a Villajoyosa Court on Saturday, and exercised her right to be silent.
She was imprisoned because the judge determined that she was a flight threat and could destroy evidence.
The victim testified that his attackers believed he had more money than he actually did and that he was likely to be killed if he didn’t.
He claimed that his ex-partner called him in a gym and lured him back to the villa under the pretense that she was looking for a code to unlock her SIM card.
When he arrived, he saw two hooded people approaching him. However, despite this, he was able to escape and call help.
Guardia Civil quickly arrived to make the arrests.
The search revealed two air pistols and two tasers as well as three self-defence aerosols. Also found were balaclavas and gloves as well as masks and a roll duct tape that was to be used on the victim.
They also rented an SUV in France to escape.
Guardia investigations revealed that the woman who was aggrieved returned to Britain and resumed her relationship with her ex-husband. A revenge kidnapping plot was then hatched.
Her ex-hubby contacted a potential accomplice in Portugal and offered him €2,500 if he would join him in Spain to ‘scare somebody’.
The three characters in the story used burner phones to contact each other.
The authorities were able access some of these messages, including those sent by the woman. Other messages had been deleted.
Two men arrested had notes in their possession with details of passwords, addresses and even names of gyms.
A potential ‘own goal’ is that the woman sent a text from the UK to the victim stating that she was sorry for what happened- in reference to the attempted kidnapping.
This was despite him not telling her about the events on March 5.
The woman’s return to Spain and where she was arrested are unknown.
