British Tourists Could Be Asked to Show €113 Per Day to Enter Spain

British tourists heading to Spain should be aware of the stricter entry requirements that have been implemented since the UK’s exit from the European Union. Travellers from the UK who enter Spain may be required to show proof of funds, accommodation and return travel.

According to Spain’s Ministry of Interior, tourists must demonstrate they have at least €113.40 per person per day for the duration of their stay. This rule is applicable to all non EU citizens who enter the Schengen Area.

Travellers should also be prepared to:

Proof of booked accommodation — either a hotel reservation, a letter from friends or family, or evidence of property ownership.

The ticket for the return or subsequent travel.

Valid passport valid for at least 3 months after the date of departure.

Since Brexit, these requirements have been implemented. However, many UK travelers are still unaware that they can be turned away from the country if they cannot meet them. The Spanish border officials are entitled to conduct these checks at any time during entry.

Check the latest guidelines for travellers before they travel to avoid any unexpected problems at the border.
