British hiker, 82, is rescued in Spain’s Mallorca after ‘falling and being unable to go on’ – CSN News

An elderly British hiker fell in the hills near Port d’Andratx on Mallorca and had to be rescued.

Firefighters from Soller, Santa Ponca and other localities responded to the incident on Sunday.

Around 5pm, the 82-year-old fell and suffered serious injuries to his legs.

He was reported to have worn inappropriate footwear for such a hike.

He could not walk when he tried to get out of bed.

Two of his friends called the emergency services to tell them where they were.

Andratx Policia Local assisted fire crews to execute the rescue.

The firefighters then lowered the Briton to an ambulance that was waiting to take him to a private hospital in Palma.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether he is a Mallorcan resident or a visitor.
