British couple arrested for drug possession after sniffer dogs find drugs in car on Costa Blanca


A BRITISH couple who are driving in Javea, Spain will never forget Kosmo the police dog.

A 57-year old man and a 37-year old woman were arrested on drug trafficking charges after a dog detected two plastic bags that contained 48 grams of cocaine in the rear of the passenger seat.

The car was pulled aside on Monday, around 8.30pm. It had tried to turn to avoid the police checkpoint at Avenida la Libertat.

The male driver also showed a very nervous attitude.

The officers at Javea Policia Local were led to believe that there could be drugs in the car.

Kosmo, the first canine member of Javea’s Canine Unit, arrived minutes later to confirm these suspicions.

The couple was arrested and the narcotics removed. In addition, the driver faces an additional charge for driving under the influence.

The detained Brits are not residents or tourists.
