Police in Tenerife have arrested a 16-year-old British tourist on suspicion of typing to commit rape against a fellow Brit.
The male teen is accused of forcing his way into the hotel room of the 22-year victim and forcing himself upon her.
Detectives claim that he fled from the scene after she had screamed and resisted.
The unnamed Briton had been on vacation with his family to the popular Playa de Las Americas. He has now been remanded in a juvenile detention centre and cannot leave the Island pending a continuing investigation.
A Policia Nacional spokeswoman said that officers had arrested a minor, aged 16, as the alleged author in an attempted sex assault that occurred on July 31st at a local hotel.
“The officers worked quickly to locate and arrest him, preventing any other attacks.

The incident took place at the entrance to a hotel room where the victim, a 22-year-old woman, was approached by snuck in behind her.
“She resisted and screamed to raise the alarm. She also managed to stop him from closing the front door. He fled the scene.
“The attack occurred during daylight hours in an area of the hotel that was busy.”
“CCTV cameras allowed the officers to reconstruct events that day, and track the suspect’s movement so they could find and arrest him in the pool of an adjacent hotel.
“He was there as a guest and on vacation with his family. The youth was handed to a juvenile court judge.
“Given his serious allegations, he was sent to a youth centre, where he would remain in detention, without having the opportunity to leave the island.”
