Blue Stompers jump review party at Maxy’s

The Blue Stompers Jump Review will be performing at Maxy’s Fuengirola, on Sunday August 10th from 8pm. They’ll perform boogie-woogie as well as rhythm and blues.

The event will also be a celebration for Paul Stylianou, the frontman of the band, on his 51st birthday. There will be a wild, free-for-all party with open jam sessions and everyone is invited to take part.

Blue Stompers is a band from Malaga that mixes jump blues with New Orleans jazz as well as aggressive rhythm and Blues. Stylianou’s influences come from Dr Feelgood, James Cotton, and Little Walter, among many others, and he’s backed by Malaga’s own Víctor “Elmore” James on guitar, whose lifelong dedication to blues adds soulful depth. The rhythm section, which includes a Scottish drummer with a rockabilly style and a Finnish guitarist with a rockabilly flavour, keep the groove tight. This is often highlighted by “Betty”, the upright bassist’s beloved instrument.

In 2014, the band formed and has since built a reputation of being one the most entertaining bars bands, flourishing in intimate, packed venues. The band’s debut album is Never Give Up! (Cambayá/Karonte), presents originals like the fiery “She Ain’t Been Cheatin'” and the elegant “Two Miles Up”, along with covers of blues legends like Little Walter, Bo Diddley, and Howlin’ Wolf. This album, available in a triple digipack with a stunning design, can be bought at www.cambaya.com.

The concert at Maxy’s, located on Calle España 21, Fuengirola (near McDonald’s), will feature the band’s classic mix of originals and inventive covers, with tracks like “Tip Toe” and “Bread and Scrambled Eggs” designed to get the crowd moving. Fans are encouraged to bring their friends, grab a beverage, and even jam with the band. The party is going to run late. It will be a great night of music and celebration.
