Black Friday hits the Costa del Sol

Black Friday in Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol bargain-hunters are preparing to take advantage of Black Friday sales in the hope of securing great deals for Christmas. In Malaga province, around 88 per cent of residents plan to shop, with the average spend expected to be €245, according to a Spanish consumer association.

Shops prepare for heavy traffic

The shopping centres on the coast have been preparing to receive large crowds. La Cañada in Marbella and Miramar in Fuengirola will see heavy footfall as shoppers hunt for discounts across fashion, beauty, electronics, and homeware. Zara and Primark are among the high street favourites offering discounts on a variety of items.

Major retailers unveil discounts

Black Friday is also a big day for major retailers. Leroy Merlin has up to 50% off all home and garden products including flooring, outdoor decking and bathroom fixtures. This offer is valid through 1 December. Carrefour has discounts on groceries and home appliances, including essentials such as olive oil, seafood, fresh meats and multi-buy 3×2 offers on pantry staples. Decathlon has a range of sportswear and equipment on sale, including waterproof jackets, hiking gear and running shoes.

Black Friday is a big day for hotels and resorts

Hotels and resorts on the coast will also be participating, offering discounts of up to 30%. These offers aim to increase tourism and attract more visitors. But early booking is essential as the rooms are limited.

Customers urged to be cautious

Experts advise caution, even though the event offers opportunities for saving. According to reports, only some of the advertised discounts are genuine. Some items may have minor price increases or reductions. Comparison of prices is encouraged before shopping to get the best deal.

Black Friday is the start of the holiday season

Black Friday has become a major event in the start of the holiday season. Cyber Monday offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase home goods, clothing, sporting equipment, food and gifts for Christmas. Brands and big-name retailers from Malaga to Fuengirola are boosting their sales in preparation for the weekend rush. Costa del Sol shoppers can expect to find a lot of bargains over the weekend. However, staying alert and comparing the prices is key in making the most savings.
