BENIDORM now has the ability to penalise illegal holiday rental property owners after forming a 5-person inspection team.
Valencia City becomes the second municipality within the Valencian Community with the ability to impose and collect penalties.
The money raised will remain in the city and not be transferred to regional government coffers.

Benidorm’s tourist accommodation has increased from 3,569 rooms in 2019 to 4,748 rooms last year. However, there is no information available on unlicensed accommodations.
The boosted team of inspectors includes officers from Policia Local.
Benidorm will publish a quarterly report on inspections, money raised and other information.
The authority will be able to punish law-breaking home owners, based on agreed regional tariffs which allow for fines of up to €600,000 for very serious transgressions.
In the Valencian Community, 12,000 unlicensed vacation rentals have been detected and removed from advertising platforms.
This month, the region will be implementing procedures for another 7,000 properties.
