In anticipation of the busy tourist season, the Policia Nacional is increasing its patrols at Benidorm’s beaches and will use drones once more to monitor the area.
Additional officers will work to prevent crimes such as thefts, and will be part of the ground units deployed on the busiest beaches.
The drones are going to fly over the coast, and provide real-time pictures.

The Policia Nacional said ‘that will allow suspicious situations or criminal behaviour to be quickly identified’.
Drone monitoring will be coordinated with patrols on the ground to act ‘immediately’ if needed.
Officers from the Operational Response Group and the Prevention & Reaction Unit permanently patrol the beach areas by foot and in vehicles.
“They’re there to respond quickly to any incidents detected by air or reported from the ground,” said the force.
It added that the integration between technical and human resources allows ‘to improve the operational response and guarantee a safer environment’.

The primary purpose of this campaign is to reduce the frequency of crime during the summer, including thefts and robberies.
Police believe that increased visibility from drones and officers will deter criminals.
Policia Nacional warns beachgoers to keep an eye on their belongings at all times and report any suspicious activity to patrolling officers or by calling 911.
The force said that “the involvement of citizens” is essential to maintain a safe summer environment.
