Benidorm High-speed Chase Ends with Car containing 1.5 Kilograms of Ecstasy Pills Crashing into Road Sign


A car carrying 7,240 Ecstasy pills crashed into a roadside sign after a high-speed chase through Benidorm.

Policia Nacional arrested two men. Both were 35 years old, and had an undisclosed nationality.

They were stopped by a police officer at a checkpoint in the early morning hours, but then took off.

Police patrols have been deployed to secure the main road exits and ensure the safety for other road users.

The pursuit ended after the car crashed into a roadsign and the passengers tried to escape by foot.

Officers detained them just a few meters away from the accident scene.

The car was searched and a stash of 7,240 Ecstasy pills, weighing less than one and a half kilograms, were found.

Officers seized €680 in cash and several mobile phones including a satellite phone which had the capability to block geo-location tracking.

Also, they had pepper spray for self protection if required.

Both men were brought to a Benidorm criminal court, one of whom had a criminal background.
