The assault occurred shortly before 2am, on October 2, 2022. There was a verbal argument and an employee emerged from behind the counter with a sharp item and attacked Samuel.
The court found that the defendant did it with the intent to kill him.
The wounds caused bleeding along the carotid arterial and damaged a laryngeal nerve.
The wounds he sustained in the ICU took 36 days to heal.
His voice changed, and there were several scars around his chin.
The Alicante court said Samuel’s life was saved ‘by rapid and diligent subsequent medical intervention’.
Two nurses from the UK on vacation were in the bar at the time and took care of him until the ambulance arrived.
Eye-witnesses said that one of them, Tabatha Neale, ‘tried her best to save his life’.
She stated at the time that he was ‘stabbed in the neck multiple times’.
Tabatha continued, “I couldn’t get over the lack compassion shown by staff and police.”
