Benalmadena has undergone a colourful and vibrant facelift, combining local enterprise with artistic expression. Street corners are being transformed into canvases for artists.

Powermusic is a local company in Benalmadena, which is renowned as a leader in the event and artist production industry. It has recently launched an ambitious project called Rincones de Benalmadena con Arte. The plan aims to not only beautify public spaces, but also highlight the talent of the local creators.

Design plans

A striking new mural has been unveiled in the Arroyo de la Miel neighborhood. The artwork is a glowing tribute to Benalmadena, as well as the wider Malaga Province, and captures its sun-drenched soul, Mediterranean spirit, and cultural identity. The vibrant colors of blues and yellows and the earthy terracottas evoke the iconic beaches, olive trees, and historical charm of this region. They transform an ordinary pedestrian underpass into one of inspiration.

Famous local artist transforms blank walls into art

Antonio Caro was the mural’s artist. A celebrated Benalmadena born painter, his illustrious and acclaimed career has earned him acclaim in both the region and internationally. Caro’s portfolio has been exhibited in many galleries throughout Andalucia, and is known for its masterful blend of modern abstraction and traditional Andalusian themes. His work often explores themes of place and memories, which he draws from the Costa del Sol’s natural beauty as well as its cultural heritage.

Caro’s latest commission marks a milestone for him, as it allows his studio-perfected technique to be brought to the streets. This underpass connects Plaza de la Cruz to Avenida Ciudad de Melilla. It is a busy corridor that has become a nexus of urban bustle and creative serenity. Benalmadena Council has supported the project, streamlined the permissions, and promoted it to all residents.

This mural is only the first in a series artistic interventions that will be spread across Benalmadena’s different districts. The next phases will include collaborations with local talent, including street performers, digital artists and sculptors. All of these are curated by Powermusic. The goal of the project is to bring art closer to residents and visitors to the Costa del Sol, who come to enjoy its beaches, golf, and nightlife.
