Benalmadena hosts its annual Souk Market, which will take place from Thursday, 28 August to Friday, 31 August.
The event, which is now a regular event on the summer cultural and commercial calendar of the Costa del Sol, will be a multi-sensory experience that draws inspiration from North African and Arabic cultures.
For four days, the Pueblo’s historic village centre will feature over 40 artisanal stalls, live workshops, performances, traditional cuisine, and open-air music, which will create a family-friendly journey through key locations including Calle Real, Plaza de Andalucía, Calle San José, Plaza del Alguacil, and Plaza de las Tres Culturas.
The Arab Market offers a unique opportunity to promote local business and draw visitors during the high season. This year, they have expanded the spaces, increased the food selection, and boosted visibility for Benalmadena’s artisans through partnerships with the Alma y Esencia Association, local brotherhoods, and organisations like Apprende and El Vuelo de las Libélulas.
The event’s lineup includes colourful street parades, daily Sephardic music concerts by Al Folk, a special performance by Ziraj on the Saturday at 11pm in Plaza de Andalucía, and a thrilling birds-of-prey show in Plaza del Alguacil, featuring live flights directly over the market. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on workshops in henna, Arabic calligraphy, and live wood carving, along with children’s activities, a medieval boat ride, and a play area on Calle San José.
