Benalmadena’s first smoke-free beach will be opened this summer. Playa Bonita is the new location where smoking is no longer allowed. The goal is to improve the environment and promote healthy habits for all those who enjoy the coast.

Benalmadena has made this move as part of its commitment to the Andalusian Plan to Reduce Tobacco Use, which aims to reduce tobacco consumption in the entire region. By creating a no-smoking zone, the town hopes to protect both public health and natural surroundings. It is not only to reduce passive smoking, but also the litter that comes from cigarette stubs.

Presi Aguilera of the local council announced the change, saying it would help to raise awareness about smoking’s dangers while making the beach safer for everyone. She also stressed the importance of joining Andalucia’s Network of Smoke-Free Healthcare Services and Public Spaces.

Playa Bonita will have signs placed to inform visitors of the smoke-free zones. There will be awareness campaigns to explain and encourage the decision.

Benalmadena is continuing to set an example by implementing projects that promote the health and wellbeing of residents and tourists. The smoke-free beaches is just one of many local initiatives that aim to create a healthier, cleaner coastal experience.

Playa Bonita offers more this summer than sun and sea. This will be a place of clean air and pristine sand.
