Benalmadena moving on – Costa News Spain

Benalmadena has made some major improvements in the town with the help of European funds that are available for application.

The council plans to submit applications for nineteen-and-ahalf million euros to fund projects such as pedestrianisation, access for people with reduced mobility, improvements to sports facilities and schools.

Funds from Europe are being requested for a total of 12 long-awaited projects, promoted since the beginning of the legislature with the promotion of the semi-pedestrianisation of the Carranque neighbourhood, the reorganisation of Calle Mercurio with inclusiveness in the design, the reconstruction of the Manuel Estepa cultural centre, the reorganisation of the La Luz Children’s School, and the rehabilitation and expansion of the facilities of the Arroyo de la Miel sports complex.

Also, the functional adaptation of the Carola III social centre, improving the gardens and promotion of cultural identity in central streets of Arroyo de la Miel, the reorganisation of green areas in the Jesús Cautivo Park, the regeneration of the Arroyo de la Miel and the Plaza de los Niños, the adaptation of a co-social space in the current centre of the Social Welfare area in Pueblosol, and training for small companies and freelancers.

‘If Benalmádena is approved for these funds,’ said the mayor, ‘we will promote a transformation of the city aimed at its complete modernisation. We would add €19.5 million to the more than €40 million already underway since we began our mandate, along with investments we plan to carry out by the end of 2025 and the first months of next year,’ he added.

Benalmadena’s future is looking brighter. We hope that they can sort out the electrical supply so we don’t have to suffer the constant power cuts like the past 2 summers.
