Benalmadena goes green for Costa del Sol’s biggest St Patrick’s Day 2026 celebrations

On Tuesday, 17th March, crowds of Benalmadena residents and visitors gathered at Arroyo de la Miel to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. The event was marked by a colourful parade in a festive atmosphere. Benalmadena internationals and nationals donned green clothing, some of which was silly, for the multicultural event. This is a big part of the welcoming atmosphere of the town.

Historic church paraded off

Participants gathered at the Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción in the morning for the colourful procession. After mass at 11.30 am, revellers began winding their way through the streets to Plaza de la Mezquita. The air was filled with music and cheer as the parade combined Irish traditions and local Spanish style. It attracted families, holidaymakers and expats. Many had traveled to the Spanish South Coast specifically for this event.

Plaza de la Mezquita hosts day-long cultural extravaganza and laughs

The festivities continued at Plaza de la Mezquita, with a programme packed full of Celtic music and dances. There were also family-friendly events. The performers delivered energetic sets while the stalls served a tasty mix of Irish and Spanish food, as well as classic beverages such Guinness and Hop House 13 The celebrations were a joyous, inclusive atmosphere that was friendly and reflected the diversity of Benalmadena.

Local officials praise the event’s role as a tourism booster

Councillor for Tourism and Foreign Residents Presi Aguilera attended together with Commerce Councillor Raúl Campos. Both spoke about how these gatherings strengthen the community and make Benalmadena a popular international destination.

The Multicultural Tradition continues to thrive

Benalmadena’s St Patrick’s Day is a highlight on the calendar every year. This town is home to over 140 nationalities, so events like these are a great way to showcase integration and share celebrations. The success of today confirms the importance of the event for both locals and tourists looking to have a good time on the Costa del Sol.
