Ex-hurricane Melissa caused major disruptions to Barcelona’s transport system today after a weather warning for torrential rainfall was issued.
At least 54 flight cancellations have occurred at Barcelona’s El-Prat International Airport. Flights outbound are experiencing an average delay in departure of 68 min.
Flightradar24 says that on average, arrivals land almost an hour behind schedule.

Airport operator AENA urges passengers to confirm the status of flights with their airlines before traveling.
ENAIRE’s manager of air navigation in Spain said that the bad weather and storms had affected airport operations and forced them to take safety measures.
Rodalies, Barcelona’s rail network, has been severely affected by the bad weather.

The R4 has been suspended from Sabadell Sud to Terrassa Est. In its place, a bus service is in operation.
After heavy rain caused the wall to collapse on top of the tracks, a section of R15 has been removed between Asco & Mora la Nova.
A loss of power has also caused the suspension of R13 and R14 between Lleida, and Riu Milans.
Other lines such as R2, R16, and R17 are also experiencing significant delays.
