Busy Easter on the Costa del Sol coming up?

Are you planning a busy Easter on the Costa del Sol?

The Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol has predicted that hotels in Malaga will be filled to an average of 77.33% for Easter 2025, a significant improvement over 2024.

The figure still falls short of 2023’s 84.23 %, which was also a benchmark because Easter was in April. Aehcos’ second estimate closely matches initial projections at 77.22 %, reflecting cautious optimism in spite of numbers that remain below pre pandemic levels.

José Luque, president of Aehcos, said that while the 2025 projections surpass last year’s, they still lag behind 2023’s peak. Luque stressed the role of weather, saying, ‘Atmospheric uncertainty will shape last-minute bookings and final occupancy figures.’

For the first phase of Easter, from April 16 to 20, occupancy is expected to reach 81.63 per cent—below the initial 83.14 per cent forecast but significantly higher than 2024’s 69 per cent, though still under 2023’s 87.81 per cent. In the longer period from April 11-21, the occupancy rate of 77.93% is similar to early forecasts. It exceeds the 2024 rate of 71 percent but falls behind the 2023 rate of 84.23 percent.

The occupancy rates in towns are varied. Mijas is the leader from April 16-20 with 87.47 percent, followed by Frigiliana Torrox at 85% and Benalmadena 84.34 percent. Benalmadena is the leader for the entire period with 84.85%, followed by Marbella at 69.55%. The hoteliers still hope that weather permitting, last-minute bookings could boost the figures.
