Lauro Golf Bowls Club in Alhaurín de la Torre celebrated a triumphant eight-day Andalucian Championships, welcoming clubs from across the province.
The event was a showcase of skill and camaraderie and was inaugurated by Mayor Joaquín Villanova, who delivered the ceremonial first bowl. Gonzaga Liniers was also present, as the Managing Director of Lauro Golf. Sergio Cortes, Councillor for Sports, and Jose Manuel de Molina, Councillor for Economy and Tax, were also there.
The competition was fierce in all disciplines. Ron Jones from Lauro Golf won the men’s singles title after a close 21-19 victory over Mijas’ John Wilson. Bente Dahlgren, of Mijas Bowls Club, dominated the women’s singles event, beating teammate Sheila Wilson by a score of 21-1. Saydo BC’s Nigel South won the pairs competition, while Mijas’ John Wilson, Bente Dahlgren and Tommy Dahlgren won mixed trips, defeating Lauro’s Ann Anderson and Peter Meyerhoff. Trophies were presented by Bill Neal, umpire Hazel Gutteridge, and marker Philip Simpson from Mojácar.
