Andalucia has two of Europe’s best cities, according to a new ranking

In a prestigious, new ranking, two Andalucian destinations have been named among the top three European destinations. This includes Spain’s traditional heavyweights Madrid or Barcelona.

Sevilla and Granada ranked second and third respectively on Travel + Leisure’s annual list for the 15 best cities in the world, just behind Florence.

Sevilla’s results are a huge leap forward. It went from being ranked 11th last year to second in 2025 with 89.49 of 100.

Andalucia’s capital has been praised for its stunning plazas, art and architecture.

Granada was a close second in Travel + Leisure’s annual list, which ranked the 15 best cities on the continent.

Hot on its heels, Granada secured third place with a score of 89.48 points – missing out on second by just 0.01 points.

Its beautiful streets, the mix of cultures in its neighbourhoods, and its iconic monuments such as the Alhambra Palace are what made the city famous.

Readers of the international magazine voted on several criteria, including points of interests, beauty, service quality and food offerings.

Spain performed well in the overall list. Madrid ranked eighth and Cordoba claimed 13th.

The results confirm Andalucia as a destination that travellers who are interested in authentic Spanish culture and architecture should visit.

Florence’s victory in the European Tourism Rankings has maintained Italy’s dominance, while Spain’s four positions in the top fifteen show the country’s continued appeal to foreign visitors.

Travel + Leisure’s awards are considered among the most prestigious and coveted in the travel world. Millions of readers vote each year for the best hotels, destinations, and experiences.

There is not a single UK town in sight.
