Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal (0-3) during the quarterfinal of Champions League. Carlo Ancelotti is now facing increased questions about his future.

The name of the Spanish coach Xabi Alonso (43) is once again being linked with the ‘los blancos’. Spanish journalist Paco González, director of Tiempo de Juego on Cadena COPE,  referenced the Basque coach live on air.

Some people claim that Xabi is already signed. There are some who assume that Xabi Alonso is already signed. “He hasn’t confirmed he’ll be staying at Leverkusen the following season,” he added.

Alonso has yet to confirm publicly his plans for the next season. Many at the Santiago Bernabeu believe that the Basque coach is the perfect successor to Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid’s chances of winning the Champions League and La Liga are being severely weakened week after week.

Madrid’s leaders acknowledge the team’s inconsistencies in this season and urge fans to support their players as they try to turn around the tie.

President Florentino Pérez is reportedly confident that the Santiago Bernabéu will act as the ‘12th man’ during the crucial return leg against The Gunners. Fans are expected to turn out as in the past, for important matches.

However, key players such as Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham are under increasing pressure to deliver. These stars will be expected to deliver when the club’s entire season is at stake.

Xabi Alonso is a legend of Spanish football

Xabi Alonso made history as the coach of Bayer Leverkusen. The Basque signed for Die Werkself In 2022, he won the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Supercup. Leverkusen also reached the Europa League Final last year but lost to Atalanta (0-3).

As a player, Xabi Alonso played for Real Madrid between 2009 and 2014, winning five trophies with ‘Los Blancos’, including La Liga and the Champions League.

Xabi was born in Tolosa in the province Gipuzkoa. He won two European Championships with Spain (2008 and 2012) as well as the World Cup in 2010.
