Almuñécar town hall on Granada province’s Costa Tropical has announced that the town’s Sunday street market will be suspended for Holy Week, from Palm Sunday (29 March) and Easter Sunday (5 April).
In the meantime, the area occupied by stalls on Paseo de Blas Infante is being converted into a car park to ease traffic and accommodate the increased number of visitors and residents during this period.
Rubbish collections will also be modified during Holy Week, on Avenida de Andalucía, Plaza de Madrid, Avenida Juan Carlos I, Avenida Europa, Paseo Puerta del Mar, Paseo Prieto Moreno (Caletilla) and the main shopping streets will be carried out between 6pm and 8pm.
Residents and businesses of those areas will need to deposit their wastes in the containers as soon as 4pm, because the containers are removed from public highways at 8pm. Night-time collection is only available to hotels and catering companies.
The town hall has apologized for the inconvenience that this measure might cause, and has thanked businesses and residents in the affected areas for their cooperation.
