Storm Regina targets Alicante: yellow alert issued as rain and strong winds move in

Alicante is under the threat of Storm Regina: Yellow alerts are issued due to rain and high winds.

You’ll need an umbrella if you live in Alicante. AEMET The yellow warning is for wind, coastal conditions and rain. Storm Regina will bring rain and gusty easterlies to the Costa Blanca. Today, the unsettled weather will begin and intensify until Tuesday.

After a short lull, the weather has returned to normal. Regina A clear change is evident. Sky is turning grey. Rain has spread from the inland towards the coast. Stronger winds are felt at exposed locations.

What can you expect in different parts of the province?

Alicante, Elche, and the Coast: Grey skies and windy conditions

A thick layer of clouds begins the day in Alicante. In the late afternoon, it is possible that a steady but light rain will develop. The easterly wind will be stronger, especially along the coast and in areas with open spaces. Temperatures are forecast between 8°C and 18°C, though it may feel cooler earlier on.

Elche has a similar pattern. Overcast skies in the morning with more rain likely later on. Winds may increase from the north and east in the late afternoon. Temperatures will sit between 8°C and 18°C.

Benidorm will also have a rainy day. It may start in the afternoon and continue through the night. Along the coast, you may notice a north-easterly breeze. Highs around 16°C.

Torrevieja will be cloudy for most of the day. Showers are more likely in the afternoon, and there is a chance of isolated thundershowers. Gusty winds may make conditions feel cooler, even with temperatures between 11°C and 16°C.

In Dénia, light rain is forecast to build later in the day. The winds are light at first, but they could increase into the evening. Temperatures range from 7°C to 16°C, with humidity adding to the chill.

Elda and Alcoy could be affected by storms

The picture is a little more unsettling away from the coast.

In Elda, the morning starts cold and cloudy, but showers – possibly accompanied by thunderstorms – are expected later in the day. Temperatures will range from 5°C to 18°C.

Alcoy is experiencing increasing cloud cover throughout the day, with possible storms and rain developing in the evening and afternoon. Early temperatures could dip to around 4°C before climbing to 16°C.

Orihuela is expected to remain mostly cloudy, with more rain likely in the afternoon. The Easterly wind could increase around midday. Temperatures are expected between 8°C and 18°C.

What will happen next?

According to AEMETThe storm Regina, which continues to affect eastern Spain, could bring more rain on Tuesday. The yellow alert highlights the risk of strong gusts – in some areas potentially reaching 70 km/h – along with rougher sea conditions.
