Paco de la Torre has issued a MORATORIUM for new rental tourist properties in Malaga.
There are an estimated 13,000 holiday homes in the municipality and the mayor said the ‘global moratorium’ would come soon.
De la Torre explained that the council would be able to provide an accurate total for hotel beds, both those which are licensed and those not.

He did not specify a timeline for the introduction of the moratorium or how long it will last.
The Partido Popular Mayor also announced plans to construct 1,400 additional subsidised homes in city.
On April 5, a demonstration will be held in Malaga to demand more affordable housing.
De la Torre pointed out that two protests last year which focused on being ‘anti-tourism’ had been ‘unwise’.
He said that tourism plays an important role in the local economies and employment.
Dani Perez from the socialist PSOE party said that buying a home in Malaga has become ‘a fantasy’ as he called on residents to join the April demonstration.
“Malaga is not a friendly or liveable city,” he stated, adding that homes cannot be priced at ‘more than €500,000′.
