Locals who enjoy a good dig and finding something different will not want to miss this little treat that is coming to La Cala in August to raise funds.
Age Care: A First for Age Care
Age Care Costa del Sol who has their permanent shop located in Calahonda will be hosting its first Solidarity Market on Wednesday, 26th August from 11am-2pm. Settling in the square near the bronze donkey, in front of La Cala Town Hall and the Town Hall itself, residents and visitors can go on a hunt and help a charity who has helped older people in Spain live an active and full life for over two decades.
Bargains with Heart, More than a Market
A diverse selection of products awaits bargain hunters. There are rails of clothing waiting for new owners. Picture books, music instruments, sports equipment and art supplies can be found alongside.
The bargains you find here do more than fill up a bag. Each purchase directly supports services such as weekly social gatherings, transportation to doctor’s and hospital appointments, translators and assistance with forms, applications and local authorities. Age Care volunteers in Alhaurin el Grande and other centres on the Costa del Sol are available to help older English-speaking residents.
Say hello to everyone you meet
You are welcome to come and browse the stalls. Volunteers will be happy to talk about the mission of the charity. Conversations are as important here as sales. The organisers want to meet and greet new faces, and explain their mission of helping elderly people who live abroad feel less lonely and supported.
The details are simple and straightforward. On Wednesday, August 26th, the stalls will open at 11am, closing at 2pm in front of La Cala Town Hall. Call the charity’s 635-407-255 helpline, which is open Monday through Friday, from 10am-4pm. You can also visit their Facebook or website. Come out and support Age Care in their great work for the community.
