CRIME SCENE JULY 2024

Sonia Dzouz (63), was brutally attacked by a knife while camping in the Cami La Tall, part of the municipality Alcala de Xivert, on 18 July 2024.

She was traveling alone in her motorhome through Spain.

Initially, the focus of investigation was on the French citizen who had abruptly returned to Perpignan from Spain after his arrest.

Joint investigations by the Guardia and French police were able to corroborate ‘the direct connection of the detainee with the events under investigation’, they stated.

Other campers, who saw the victim’s dogs roaming the road, raised the alarm.

The first one hid underneath the motorhome, and the second did not stop barking.

They were worried that a car might run over the dogs. Once they got into the motorhome, Sonia Dzouz was dead and her throat had been slit.

The reports at the time indicated that she suffered multiple stab injuries and that the knife that was used in the assault had been found in her home.

Nobody heard any screams despite other vans in park, but there were sightings of an ‘elderly’ man who also appeared in the area at the same time- two days earlier.

He was said to be walking ‘as if he were lost’ and wore a mask and had an oxygen cylinder with him.
