A MAJOR Police Operation on the Costa del Sol in Granada and on the Costa del Sol has uncovered a logistics empire consisting of warehouses and transport companies used to funnel drugs to Eastern Europe from southern Spain.
The investigation, led by the Policía Nacional with support from Europol, dismantled a network accused of stockpiling narcotics in Spain before distributing them to markets in eastern European countries.
The majority of its members are Lithuanians. They specialize in moving large shipments across the country to eastern destinations.
Officers believe Spain served as a key supply location, with drugs stored in commercial warehouses in Andalucía before being hidden among legitimate cargo.
The loads were then transported by heavy goods vehicles across the EU to eastern Europe where there is a strong demand for cocaine and hash.

In the first phase, the police seized in Granada 1,837 kilos hash that was allegedly destined to be exported eastward.
Three suspects have been arrested.
Investigators discovered a second shipment of cocaine being transported to Eastern Europe through France several months later.
French authorities discovered 22 kilos hidden in the secret compartment of the vehicle.
Three more suspects were arrested in Spain, including the alleged leader, as a result of follow-up searches. An additional 29 kilograms of cocaine with the same identification mark was also seized.
Seven people have been arrested and placed in custody.
The police say that the case shows how organised crime groups use seemingly legitimate logistic chains to turn Spain into a gateway for supplying drug markets in eastern Europe.
