A man shot dead in Valencia after attempting to stab police officers at his doorstep


On Monday, a man was killed after he lunged at two Policia Nacional police officers in a Valencia apartment with a knife.

The attacker was a 46 year old Chinese national who ran a bar.

The officers fired in self-defense after they were called to handle a violent argument at an apartment building on Calle Godofredo Ros located in the Russafa District of the city.

Around 4pm a resident of the apartment building called emergency services to report that a neighbour had been knocking on his front door and threatening with a knife.

The officers interviewed the caller, then went to the apartment where the aggressor was living.

He opened the front door, grabbing a large blade and charged at them. The police responded by shooting him.

One neighbour told me that Las Provincias He told the newspaper that he had heard 12 detonations within a few second.

The man stated that the shots were so frequent, it appeared like a fireworks.

Another witness however said that it sounded like there were ‘four or five’ shots.

While an officer was trying to help the injured person before the arrival of paramedics who were unable recover his vitals, additional Policia Nacional Patrols were called.

Police and emergency sources confirmed that the deceased man had died from ‘gunshot wounds’.

Residents report to Las Provincias They claimed that the Chinese man they called Luis wasn’t violent, but he needed a cane to aid him because of sciatica nerve pain.

He was stabbed by a man in 2010 when he defended an elderly woman.

Three stab wounds were found on his chest, abdomen, and shoulder. He was treated by La Fe Hospital.

The police arrested an aggressor on suspicion of attempted murder
