An incident happened shortly after 10am local, when a person walked up to the runway of a plane that was preparing for takeoff. He was then reportedly pulled into one engine.

In a press release, Sacbo, Milan Bergamo’s airport management company, said that the flight operations were suspended due to a problem on the taxiway. The cause of the issue is being investigated by the law enforcement.

According to the airport, to allow for initial police inspections and intervention, flights were diverted from Bologna to Verona and Milan Malpensa. Air traffic resumed at 12pm.

Milan Bergamo – Orio al Serio airport, located about 45 kilometres from Milan, is a terminal widely used by low-cost airlines as an alternative to the city’s main airports, Linate and Malpensa.
