A man was arrested in Costa del Sol for allegedly pointing a pistol loaded at a policeman during a tense confrontation late at night.
The suspect, a 22-year-old known to police for previous drug offences, is said to have aimed the weapon at the officer following a routine traffic stop – only to later drop the gun before attempting to flee on foot through the La Cañada area of Mijas.
After resisting arrest and a dramatic pursuit, he faces charges of assaulting a police officer and illegal gun possession.

Drama unfolded at the dawn of April 1st, when a local patrol was observing a vehicle speeding while performing surveillance.
A young man in a hooded hat and gloves exited the car and entered another vehicle quickly, which immediately raised suspicion.
The man was reportedly seen stepping out again as officers approached him to question him. He then pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of them.
Faced with the threat, the police officer responded by pulling his service weapon and escalating an already volatile situation.

The suspect then fled on foot after throwing the gun to the ground.
According to sources, the gun that was seized later by the authorities was found loaded.
Officers immediately chased the suspect and discovered him hiding in some shrubs as he was attempting to destroy an important mobile phone.
After he had allegedly assaulted and resisted the officers, despite his desperate attempts to get him down, they wrestled him.
Later, the Guardia Civil assumed responsibility for the investigation.
