A judge in Gijón has ordered ten people detained in the Núcleo Nacional probe to be released under court restrictions, after the wider operation also reached Alicante and other provinces. They must stay in Spain, surrender their passports and report to court each week.
The ruling is the latest development in the investigation into the alleged far-right group, which began with coordinated arrests and searches across several parts of Spain. CNS reported earlier that police had detained 14 people in the case as raids widened; read the earlier report here.
Precautionary measures imposed
According to the judicial information available, the ten released detainees remain under investigation for alleged offences including hate speech, illegal association and weapons possession.
Sources cited in the original reporting said the court also ordered weekly appearances and a ban on leaving the country. The decision was taken after the detainees gave evidence before the judge handling the case in Gijón.
The case stems from an investigation linked to disturbances in Gijón earlier this year, when the group was reported to have held a protest over a monument associated with the Franco era. Police then carried out searches in several provinces, including Alicante, Madrid, Asturias, Guadalajara, Valladolid, Pontevedra and Burgos.
The inquiry remains open and the measures imposed on the ten do not amount to a final ruling.
