Policía Nacional officers outside a residential building in Gandia

Property owner and sister held after knife threat to tenants

Police in Gandia arrested a property owner and his sister after they allegedly burst into a rented room and threatened a tenant with a large knife.

The incident took place in a house on Avenida de València, where neighbours called police after hearing a man inside the property waving the weapon and threatening one of the occupants, according to the account published by local media.

Officers from the Policía Nacional, based in Gandia, went to the building and were let in by neighbours so they could reach the flat. When they arrived, they found the owner armed with the knife and allegedly intimidating the tenant in the room.

Investigators later concluded that the property owner and his sister had forced their way into the room without permission. Police seized the knife and arrested both siblings at the scene.

The pair were taken to the Gandia police station and later placed before a judge on suspicion of threats and unlawful entry into a dwelling.

According to the report, the argument was one of a string of disputes linked to the property, with neighbours saying rowdy scenes in the house were not uncommon. The latest episode, however, appears to have escalated into a serious threat involving a weapon and a vulnerable living arrangement.

Police did not report any injuries. The investigation remains focused on the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the access to the rented room.

What officers say happened

The police version is that the owner entered the room occupied by a couple, threatened the male tenant with the knife and refused to back away when officers arrived. His sister is said to have been involved in the forced entry into the room.

The arrests came after officers recovered the knife and secured the scene. The case now moves to the courts, where the allegations will be examined further.
