Six detained after joint police sweep of bars and workplaces

Six people were detained after a joint police operation in Mazarrón targeting workplaces and nightlife venues, with officers also drawing up 13 reports for drugs and weapons offences.

The sweep, carried out by Policía Nacional, Guardia Civil and Mazarrón Local Police together with labour inspectors, covered six premises in the coastal town and involved checks on 85 people.

Immigration checks and labour inspections

According to the information released on Friday, the six detainees were held for being in Spain in an irregular situation. Administrative expulsion files have also been opened against them.

Inspectors from the Labour and Social Security service recorded further breaches in the businesses checked, although the authorities did not specify how many cases were identified or what form they took.

Drugs and weapons reports

In addition to the detentions, officers issued 13 reports under public safety rules for possession of drugs and weapons.

The operation was described as part of the ongoing coordination between state security forces and local police aimed at detecting criminal activity and administrative irregularities, and at safeguarding public order in the area.

The announcement did not say whether any further action is planned following the checks.
