Caminito del Rey launches WhatsApp alerts so visitors never miss vital travel updates

Caminito del Rey now offers WhatsApp alerts to ensure that visitors don’t miss any important travel information

A new digital service aims to reduce the chances of last-minute surprises.

Real-time WhatsApp updates arrive for Caminito del Rey visitors

After the launch of its official WhatsApp channel, anyone planning to visit Malaga’s famed Caminito del Rey will be able to receive updates instantly on their phone.

This free service, designed to inform visitors in real time about weather disruptions, temporary closures and other important announcements that affect the popular gorge pathway, will provide notices of these events. The managers are hoping that this will become a quick way for tourists and travellers to be informed.

Caminito del Rey has been communicating through its website and social media, as well as Telegram. However, adding WhatsApp (which is used by many travellers, tourists and locals) instead of a traditional chat will allow followers to get updates without disclosing their personal numbers to others.

The weather can alter plans in just a few hours

The introduction of this new communication tool was primarily motivated by safety. Conditions in the Gaitanes Canyon can quickly change, especially if strong winds or severe storms are forecast. Even though light rain doesn’t always stop visitors, the management can close access if there is a risk to visitor safety. Closures are based on weather and operational conditions. Before now, visitors were encouraged to monitor their email, SMS messages and Telegram before leaving. WhatsApp joins the list of platforms that travellers check daily before leaving for their trip.

There’s more to closures than just cancellations

Subscribers also get news on the availability of tickets, special announcements, as well as developments that affect the attraction. This information is particularly helpful during busy times, when tickets often sell out in advance. Caminito del Rey, Spain’s largest pedestrian suspension bridge, opened earlier this summer within the attraction. This exciting addition to an already stunning experience, was a new section of the Caminito del Rey.

Plan your visit easier for international visitors

Caminito del Reino attracts thousands of visitors each year, many of whom are from outside Spain. WhatsApp messages with official updates could reduce the number of unnecessary trips when bad weather or operational changes force temporary closures.

The management reminds guests that only the official booking platform can be used to buy tickets. Updates on the opening hours, operational changes, and visitor information continue to appear in other channels including WhatsApp. You can add your own comments on the official Caminito del rey social media channels.
