The “Biomagico”, a collection of works designed to reconnect us with nature, invites you into a world of art. Torremolinos Cultura is organising this free solo exhibition by Jesus Calzada. From July through October, guests will be able to see the public exhibition.
Surrealism and fine art go together
Weekly gallery sessions run from Wednesdays to Sundays. Doors open between 10:30am and 2pm. The public will not be allowed to enter the gallery on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Jesus Calzada is the artist who created this display. He has extensive experience in commercial cinema and film. His background combines traditional pictorial art with professional art direction for high-profile TV commercials, music video, and major films. Media fans may be familiar with his set designs and collaborations, including those with filmmaker Pedro Almodovar. His creative fine art was featured in galleries in Paris, Venice Mexico, and Buenos Aires.
Caldaza describes his inspriration behind Biomagico, “Nowadays human beings have significantly lost their link with nature, with an estimated decrease of more than sixty percent in this connection during the last 200 years,” to which he added that “modern life in cities has distanced people from natural environments, causing daily interaction with it to be minimal, giving rise to a phenomenon known as ‘extinction of experience’ or ‘disconnection from nature'”.
Opening night schedule confirmed
The official launch will take place on Thursday 9th July at 6:30pm. Casa de los Navajas in Torremolinos is a great venue for the exhibition, allowing it to be a contrast between contemporary eco-surrealism and a historic local building. There is a 3-month window for art lovers to view the exhibition in person. The final public viewings will take place on October 4.
