Sotogrande Port offers a fantastic summer of live music, art and flamenco

This summer, Sotogrande Port will host a variety of art exhibitions and events, including live music, dance, sculpture, and flamenco. Culture enthusiasts have another reason to visit one of the most beautiful marinas on the coast.

In July and August you can take part in an array of art exhibitions, performances, and projects at Plaza de las Palmeras and Ribera del marlin, as well as Plaza de los Naranjos. This rich and varied programme has something to offer everyone.

Sotogrande Port comes alive with vibrant art exhibitions

The Museum of Contemporary Art will be hosting a variety of fascinating works of art for the public to enjoy on Saturday, July 18. Summer in a Palette of Colour event held at Plaza de las Palmeras. This open-air art exhibition, organized by Mosayko Arte Musica and featuring paintings, sculptures and photographs by Spanish and foreign artists inspired by Sotogrande’s unique light, calm colours, and coastal landscape, was organised in collaboration with Mosayko Arte Musica.

The unique gallery is also open to art lovers Landscapes of The Heart Syrie Jo’s exhibition at Fresco Marina Sotogrande is on until July 31. Her work explores memories, emotions and transformations through collections such as 99 Hearts Her colourful sky series ends with a new collection of works where the heart and the horizon are united.

Flamenco, live music and dance fill the summer months

Live music and art will entertain your senses throughout the summer. Merili and Juan Pablo have performed an array of Latin, pop and international favorites with vocals, electric violin, and acoustic guitar earlier in the summer.

On Sunday, July 26, guests can enjoy El Chasquido del Manton, an evening celebrating traditional flamenco at Ribera del Marlin. Performers Las Gemelas, Lidia and Esther, will appear with guitarist Jesus Piña and DJ Jose Enrique in an intimate performance inspired by one of Spain’s best-loved traditions.

Cabalgando Entre Arte will be performed on the evening of August 23, combining lyrical dance with contemporary dance. The performance will take place overlooking the Marina.

The program is completed with a sculpture exhibition and community art.

Arte Taurino is an outdoor exhibition of Tomas Cardu, presented by Fundacion Navega at Plaza de los Naranjos. Cardu’s work is a fascinating interpretation of Spain’s bullfighting traditions from a modern perspective.

The third La Huella Art Marathon is a programme that integrates community participation. It’s organised by Osvaldo Lobalzo. Artists and the general public are invited to use recycled materials to create a large wall mural, encouraging creativity and environmental consciousness.

Pamela Naranjo’s work, the founder of La Poule Doree Marbella, is displayed in the Port Control Tower. Her colourful creations are made with papier-mache and recycled cardboard, as well as mixed-media techniques. The Lucky Hen Here are some of her most well-known pieces.

Jose Luis Biedma’s sculptures are also displayed in public spaces throughout Sotogrande Port. The marina is home to permanent art that visitors can admire throughout the year.

The marina is home to a culture that’s part of the everyday.

Exhibitions and performances can be held in public squares or waterfront spaces, allowing the public to experience culture while enjoying the tranquil Mediterranean backdrop.

Sotogrande Port says that the programme supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through encouraging participation in the arts, supporting the creative industries, and working with cultural and artistic organisations throughout Campo de Gibraltar as well as the western Costa del Sol.
