Star chefs inspire next generation at Costa del Sol’s launch of Chefs for Children 2026 Gala

Chefs for Children Gala launches at Costa del Sol to celebrate the talents of future chefs

Chefs for Children launched in Benahavis, where young chefs received invaluable guidance from Spain’s culinary top-tier at the Chefs’ School. This annual gathering combines gastronomic perfection with heartfelt unification, inspiring passion for cooking and healthy food while steering young people towards nutritious lifestyles.

Culinary legends inspire tomorrow’s talent

Mario Cachinero from Skina, José Carlos García of his eponymous Malaga restaurant, Mauricio Giovanini from Messina, David Olivas from Back and Pía Ninci as front-of-house expert at Messina led an inspiring workshop for hospitality students. Deep discussions highlighted core food values, with García stressing that simple nutrition matters far more than fleeting fame. Participants discussed how healthy meals are essential to life, and that they can be enjoyed without luxury cars or material goods. They also cultivated habits that prioritize health and wellbeing.

Chairty through the healthy eating focus

The initiative, now in its eighth year of existence, aims to empower over 400 associations across the country by providing support to FEDER. This is the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases. Under the motto “Comer Sanos es Divertido”, workshops are fun, educational sessions which make healthy eating enjoyable. More than sixty renowned chefs from across Spain will join forces on April 20 at Anantara Villa Padierna to teach 150 children from FEDER families and local schools Daidín and Atalaya. Le Cordon Bleu Madrid students and Benahavis instructors provide extra help during interactive cooking experiences.

Gala dinner celebrates generosity and gastronomy

The evening begins with an elegant cocktail reception held in the amphitheatre garden of the venue. This is followed by a tasting menu created by Michelin-starred Malaga chefs. The evening is rounded off with live entertainment and gastronomic prizes. Local authorities, including Benahavis mayor José Antonio Mena, praised the event’s role in strengthening the town’s hospitality heritage for the fourth consecutive year. Regional representatives from the Junta de Andalucía and Mancomunidad Costa del Sol Occidental applauded its alignment with Mediterranean diet principles, sustainability and premium local produce under the Gusto del Sur and Sabor a Malaga banners.

Tickets are still available for this inspiring evening via chefsforchildren.esThe fusion of culinary magic, talent and compassion promises to be unforgettable.
