Malaga’s representative in the Spanish third tier suffered a devastating weekend. In a potentially decisive round, all three sides lost at home.
Antequera CF (F), Marbella FC (FC) and Juventud de Torremolinos (Juventud de Torremolinos) are now all facing increasing pressure at the bottom of the table.
Antequera 2–3 Tarazona
SD Tarazona beat Antequera with a penalty in stoppage time, resulting in the most brutal defeat of all three.
They recovered from going a goal behind to lead early in the second half through Luismi Gutiérrez’s quickfire double, with the first coming from the penalty spot. But they were quickly beaten back.
In the 99th minute, a controversial penalty award and conversion was made.
The team’s third consecutive loss has them in danger and away from the playoffs.
Marbella 0–1 Villarreal B
Marbella’s troubles grew worse the same day after they narrowly lost to Villarreal B at home.
Both sides had chances to score, but Etienne Eto’o’s 80th-minute header was the difference.
It is now back-to-back home defeats for the team, and they are in the relegation area. With only a few matches left to play, survival looks increasingly unlikely.
Torremolinos 0–1 Cartagena
Torremolinos lost by the same goal to FC Cartagena, further down the coast.
The visitors took the initiative after a balanced start and scored with a Yanis Rahmani header in the middle of the first half.
Torremolinos, who had a good run in the league before, now finds itself just above relegation. The urgency to make a rapid turnaround has increased.
