British wellness icon Champneys debuts in Marbella for the first time

Prestigious UK wellness brand Champneys has opened its first spa outside Britain at the five-star Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club on the Costa del Sol. The company, founded in 1925 brings a century’s worth of experience in combining modern therapies with spa culture in Spain’s Andalucia.

Slow luxury meets British tradition

The “slow” luxury philosophy of the resort is evident in its emphasis on quality and depth, rather than speed. One of the exclusive treatments is the “Marea de Tranquilidad”, a massage created specifically for this resort. Fluid manual techniques provide deep regeneration. This experience is unique in the world. Nicola Eager described the launch of Champneys as a “dream realized”. She said, “This spa represents all that we are: holistic wellness with expert therapies, restorative journeys and thoughtfulness.”

Thermal facilities offer profound rejuvenation

Two pools form the centrepiece of this thermal area. The indoor pool is 19 metres long and features hydrotherapy jets as well as a waterfall, counter-current and a system of hydrotherapy to improve circulation and reduce muscle tension. The 40-square-metre heated pool is ideal for gentle exercise or pure relaxation. Complementary elements include a cold plunge pool at 15°C, a jacuzzi, a traditional sauna, a hammam, sensory showers and a classic bucket shower. The deliberate contrasts of heat and cold have proven benefits in terms of muscle recovery, increased blood flow, immune system support, and mental clarity.

Six treatment rooms round out the Sanctuary

Six treatment rooms are also available, including a couple’s suite. The spa integrates perfectly with Iconic Luxury Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio, which features properties such as Cliveden House, Chewton Glen and Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido.

Gran Marbella will be the first Andalusian property for the group. Jeroen Neettekoven, the general manager, highlighted its significance. This opening shows commitment to meaningful and restorative moments, while enhancing Marbella’s appeal to health-conscious tourists.
