The Blue Footpaths Award 2026 was presented to the Miradores y acantilados de Torrenueva-Costa suspension bridge, which won the Blue Footpaths award for best “Sendero azul”.

On Friday, 6 March in Cullera (Valencia), the environmental and consumer association (ADEAC) organized a conference to recognize 194 trails. These trails came from 12 different regions. The 194 trails cover 1,200 km of marked routes and form a network that encourages responsible enjoyment of the natural world, conservation of cultural heritage and the preservation of the environment.

Torrenueva Costa mayor, Plácido José Lara Maldonado, attended the ceremony and collected the award, the first in the province of Granada to obtain the recognition.

The Miradores y Acantilados Torrenueva route, which is about 10 kilometres in length, runs through subtropical agriculture plantations and pine forests. It also passes spectacular cliffs with views of the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors can enjoy the Costa Tropical from different viewpoints, which makes it an ideal place for hiking and learning about the natural environment.

This award is given for the environmental aspect of the route. It also includes the correct signage and maintenance. The work done by the city hall to promote environmental education and the respect of nature, and protect the coast, was also a factor.

Torrenueva Costa has been recognized for its outstanding tourism destination in Costa Tropical. This award reinforces Torrenueva Costa’s commitment to sustainable tourism based on conservation of the landscape and natural heritage.
