A wooden footbridge that was running along the rocky cliff edge in northern Spain collapsed unexpectedly, killing at least four and leaving two people unaccounted for.
At around 4.30pm Tuesday, seven people were on a walkway near the coastal region of El Bocal in Santander when it collapsed.
The people on the bridge fell into the water and jagged rocks below.
Four people have been confirmed dead, two remain missing and a third was rescued soon after the accident.
A lifeboat, a helicopter and officers of the Guardia Civil were all dispatched on the scene.

Due to the terrain, it is difficult to locate the pair due the heavy waves that crash against the rocky platforms and pools.
According to sources quoted by El PaisThe victims are young students at the La Granja vocational center located in Heras, Medio Cudeyo, a nearby town.
The names and ages have not been revealed.

Police officers, local technicians and other experts have begun an investigation into the cause of this accident.
