Spain weather: Calima dust and Saharan dust arrives in Southern and Eastern Spain, plus Mallorca this week

The weather in the south and east of Spain, as well Mallorca, is expected to change drastically this week. After a sunny, spring-like period in the region, Saharan dust will cause calima conditions (Saharan dirt).

Heatwave in Southern and Eastern Spain continues before dust storms arrive

While much of Europe has been plunged into freezing conditions, a strong subtropical ridge has pushed temperatures above 25°C across the southeast and Mediterranean coastal areas following one of the sunniest weekends of the year. Mallorca may also see reduced visibility as well as orange-tinted skies due to the airborne particles. Weekend Outlook for South and East Spain – Cooling trend expected

A general drop in temperature is predicted for southern and eastern Spain, as well as Mallorca by the weekend. While the north is more likely to see rain, the south, east and west should remain dry. However, isolated showers of dust mixed with rain are possible. The weather will be more pleasant in the south than it is further north, and we’ll still have a great time on the beach as long as there are no muddy rain showers.
